Amazon has launched a scheme to provide small businesses in the UK with training and best practice advice on how to innovate as they scale.
The Amazon Innovation Accelerator (AIA) combines in-person workshops with online learning and is available across 19 UK locations.
The free programme will give participating businesses access to the AIA digital SME hub, an online training platform that covers a range of topics including how to work backwards from the customer, AI and LEAN methodology, which is a system focused on continuous improvement by eliminating waste and optimising processes to maximise value.
Business leaders will also have access to training workshops, networking and other digital resources.
Additionally, Amazon said that participants can enter the AIA Innovation Challenge and have a chance to win a share of £100,000 to fund their innovation strategy, providing them with the resources to bring their innovation culture and digital transformation vision to life.
“Participants of AIA can apply these learnings to their own businesses to boost their growth and productivity,” Amazon said. “We’re proud to support nearly 100,000 UK-based small businesses that sell and export on our store, then supporting many more by upskilling through initiatives like the AIA where we share with them practical tools and ideas for growth.”
The AIA is amongst several training scheme that Amazon has launched in the UK this year.
In February, Amazon announced it is recruiting for over 1,000 UK-based apprenticeships in 2025, with the roles spanning more than 40 programmes in areas including data science, cybersecurity, engineering and warehouse operations.
The apprenticeships will offer a wide range of opportunities across the country in Amazon businesses including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Prime Video, and Amazon Devices and Services.
In May, the company announced it would expand the AWS Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance to the UK, providing 100,000 people with AI skills by 2030.
The programme aims to address a growing need for AI skills and tech job readiness across the UK, which Amazon said combines a mix of industry-validated content, hands-on experience, and direct connections to employers, to give learners technical skills and practical exposure to the industry.
